“They” say that my main internet writing project, The New Leaf Journal, is one of the “most popular” websites on the world wide web. Many fledgling websites link to my writing because of my big popularity. For example, last January, some puny website called The Athletic (owned by The New York Times, whatever that is), published an article titled The Cavaliers — at 31-4 — are echoing greats like the ’16 Warriors, but don’t tell them that, which linked to my world-renowned study of whether defense wins NBA championships. It is nice to see the “kids” respecting the “grown-ups,” so I looked for an opportunity to give the “little guy” a “boost.” I found such an opportunity in the form of a new Athletic article titled Are the Thunder on track to have the best NBA title defense ever? That inspired me to write and publish Best and Worst NBA Title Defenses Since 1983-84. which properly cites to and quotes from The Athletic article as inspiration. I am always happy to help up-and-coming websites by making my “big leauge audience” aware of their existence.
(Note: I used to read Joe Vardon and Zach Harper, the authors of the two Athletic articles, back when they were part of ESPN’s former True Hoop network, well before I became the internet’s leading writer on all things.)
