On September 2, 2025, the New York Post reported that longshot New York City Mayoral candidate Jim Walden suspended his campaign. As a result of the suspension, Mr. Walden will have to pay back more than $2.3 million in public matching funds. Setting aside questions about why New York City believes my tax money needs to fund political campaigns or how someone who was unlikely to break 2.3% in the general election qualified for $2.3 million in matching funds, the only reason I found this newsworthy is because I covered Mr. Walden’s campaign mobile over on The New Leaf Journal. You can see higher quality photos on my Pixelfed account.
