My name is Nicholas Ferrell and I am the founder and administrator of The Emu Café Social (my admin account is nafaugustus). I an a writer and legal research specialist based in Brooklyn, New York City. Since 2020, I have been the editor and administrator of the perennially virid writing website, The New Leaf Journal, which is home to my long-form writing on many topics. I started this site as an experiment in using WordPress as the foundation for social publishing from a digital home.

My main email account (Posteo) seems to have stopped receiving emails. While that is a problem, almost all of the emails that go to my Posteo account are Simple Login aliases. Score one for an unexpected upside of an alias service.

On October 2, I made a small change to https://thenewleafjournal.com/myself-yourself-and-watchable-bad-anime/. But I accidentally saved it with a new published time. I was making peppermint hot chocolate on the stove. Added peppermint extract when it was almost at a boil. Had a little more in the cap than I thought. Eye watering stuff. But it’s good. Very refreshing.

My Koko Analytics stats for NLJ were blown up yesterday by some bots hitting archive pages. I decided to implement filters for Koko Analytics to not track archive pages beyond 2 (I did the same here, albeit this site is **much** less trafficked). So far seems to be cleaning up my stats. New era?

I had been using Tree Style Tabs on Firefox for years along with chrome.css modifications to get rid of the top tab bar. I had some display issues yesterday. I was checking something on AlternativeTo yesterday and I saw featured AppGrid Launcher, which is designed to fit in with KDE Plasma. I am trying it out. It does indeed integrate well. I may stick with it. Need to look into some of the features beyond being a good app selector.

As I noted in Pook-Emu Bee 08-21-26, I think the “X cable” for my Ebay Wacom tablet is faulty (touch input works, picked up as monitor, but not image). Testing my theory with a $40 cable from B&H (arriving on Tuesday). I needed to order one other thing to hit $50 free shipping. Camera bag coming.
